Nello specifico, MKY segue l’ideologia neonazista e promuove la violenza verso anziani, immigrati, comunità ebraiche e tutti i gruppi considerati indesiderabili.

English version

Over the past year, Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) has emerged as one of the main phenomena of violent extremism, both online and offline, posing one of the main threats to society’s security. As highlighted by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), between 2020 and 2025, more than 200 individuals associated with violent misanthropic and nihilistic groups were arrested in 28 countries. These data reflect a threat that is increasingly expanding online, attracting mainly young people who do not follow a specific ideology and are increasingly drawn to violence.

In this context, the acronym NVE stands for a group of individuals united by their promotion and engagement in violence, both online and offline. These actors often lack a structured ideology, as they primarily glorify violence as a means to destabilise society. The cultural ecosystem of NVE actors consists of various internet cultures that are constantly evolving and overlapping. Among these, the most well-known network is the ‘Com Network’, short for The Community, which encompasses a constellation of interconnected online extremist communities.

The ‘Com Network’ is not a hierarchical organisation, but rather a fluid and dynamic ecosystem in which the groups that belong to it can operate independently, share common characteristics, hybridise, fragment or give rise to new offshoots. The communities operating within the ‘Com Network’ can be divided into ‘Cyber Com’, ‘(S)extortion Com’ and ‘Offline Com’. This context includes nihilistic and misanthropic extremist groups with no defined political objectives, whose sole purpose is violence and destruction.

Founded between 2020 and 2021 by the15-year-old Bradley Cadenhead, 764 is one of the most well-known and studied groups of the ‘Com Network’. 764 draws inspiration from CVLT and aims to destabilise society by targeting vulnerable individuals, particularly exploiting minors to turn them into victims or perpetrators. To identify and manipulate vulnerable young people, 764 exploits gaming platforms and messaging applications through which it pushes its victims into forced drug use, sharing intimate images, producing child pornography, committing incest or rape, torturing animals, self-harming and, often, encouraging individuals to commit suicide on camera or carry out mass shootings.

CVLT and 764 are not the only movements that encourage such behaviour online. Among them are other communities, such as the Maniacs Murder Cult (MMC), also known as (MKY), founded in 2017 by Ukrainian Yegor Krasnov, and No Lives Matter (NLM), both of which promote indiscriminate violence and mass killings.

Specifically, MKY follows neo-Nazi ideology and promotes violence against the elderly, immigrants, Jewish communities and all groups considered undesirable. This movement aims to challenge and destroy the social order through terrorism and violence. MKY differs from extreme-right accelerationism as it does not promote a political ideology, rather, it incites the use of violence for personal satisfaction. Unlike 764, which operates mainly online, MKY prefers offline violence, encouraging its members to commit murders, shootings or stabbings.

NLM, then, is a misanthropic, neo-Nazi online group that promotes violence, terrorism and the destruction of humanity, which it considers insignificant. It has collaborated with MKY, translating its guides into English and playing a key role in spreading “Maniac Culture” in the English-speaking sections of the ‘Com Network’. Actually, NLM can be considered a European branch of MKY. The main objective of these two groups is to inspire and engage people in forms of nihilistic and misanthropic violence, prioritising real-world impact over mere online visibility. Propaganda, internal manuals and strategic alliances are used to strengthen recruitment and a sense of belonging.

Another online community that fits into the context of misanthropy and celebration of violence is the True Crime Community (TCC), whose members may converge or overlap with groups in the ‘Com Network’. Specifically, TCC is a term used to identify the extreme fringe of true crime enthusiasts who venerate murderers and attackers and develop a real obsession with their idols, in some cases even imitating their actions.

Based on the foregoing, it appears that these movements, in the absence of a coherent and structured ideological framework, could enable the emergence of hybrid, unpredictable and increasingly blurred threats. Nihilistic and misanthropic online movements are particularly dangerous because they can manipulate vulnerable individuals, exacerbating feelings of isolation, anger, and a desire for revenge. They also share propaganda and extreme content that can push some individuals to commit harmful acts in the real world. Their spread, especially among young people, is dangerous because adolescents are often in a phase of emotional and identity vulnerability. These movements can normalise hatred, contempt and violence towards themselves and others, and exploit psychological fragility. This can lead to processes of radicalisation that may result in harmful actions in the real world.

It is precisely the absence of a structured ideology that makes this phenomenon difficult to identify, classify and combat. By focusing solely on violence, this form of extremism goes beyond ideology. It often draws symbols, narratives, and operational models from other, more defined types of violent extremism. A recent emblematic case occurred in December 2025 in Odintsovo (Russia), where 15-year-old Timofey Vladimirovich Kulyamov carried out a stabbing attack. His actions and manifesto illustrate the variety of influences that contributed to his radicalisation process. In his writing, the boy explicitly references, even using direct quotations, figures who are well-known in both TCC and far-right circles. These figures include Eric Harris, one of the perpetrators of the 1999 Columbine High School massacre; Dylann Roof, responsible for the 2015 Charleston church attack; and Brenton Tarrant, who carried out the 2019 Christchurch shooting and authored the manifesto The Great Replacement. Kulyamov had also shared images of himself wearing patches with Nazi symbols and references to movements such as the NLM. Furthermore, his attack was carried out following the instructions contained in the MKY manual, which provides operational guidance on how to carry out knife attacks.

Ultimately, this convergence of ideologies, digital subcultures and trans-ecosystem extremist symbols reshapes the threat into something that traditional frameworks can no longer fully grasp.
