As highlighted by Routledge, drawing on multiple research projects conducted since 2020 and employing methods such as Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), Social Network Analysis (SNA), and comparative content analysis, this book traces the origins, evolution, and defining features of contemporary media jihad. It analyses how violent extremist organisations construct and sustain complex online information ecosystems, attract and radicalise audiences, and produce and disseminate propaganda across diverse digital platforms. All of this has been achieved thanks to the extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of Professor Miron Lakomy, who has been able to move beyond standardised \u2013 and often Western-centric \u2013 perspectives, and to adopt the viewpoint of, and understand the underlying reasons for, the strategy and tactics employed by Salafi-jihadist groups in waging their media war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the book, the analysis relies on a wide dataset (nearly 1,300 channels and over 29,000 pieces of content), thereby enabling an in-depth examination of how Salafi-Jihadi groups build their online ecosystems, disseminate their narratives, attract audiences, and adapt their strategies and tactics in response to P\/CVE countermeasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, while analysing the structure and modus operandi <\/em>of the Salafi-Jihadi online ecosystem, Professor Miron Lakomy explored paramount topics such as recruitment strategies, messaging patterns, and how Salafi-Jihadi groups are able to stay \u2018under the radar\u2019, developing advanced Operational Security (OPSEC) practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding Media Jihad <\/em>is thus a book meant for anyone interested in terrorism and security studies, media and communication, and countering violent extremism in the digital space.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
