MAPping EXtremism is a project conducted by ITSTIME in order to study, investigate, analyse and map the online extremist ecosystems. By maps we mean graphs that are not merely the graphical description of extremist networks but are in fact multidisciplinary quantitative and qualitative analysis. The graphical data is not only in support of the analysis but is a fundamental part of it. The techniques involved in this operation are the following:

- Social network analysis
- Semantic analysis
- Semiotic analysis
Objective of the operation: study the extremists communities, discovery the networks, understand its functioning, and develop effective counter-strategies.
