But there was another October 7th in the history of terrorism, that seems to have been forgotten, though it actually: the hijacking of Achille Lauro.

A cinque mesi dal massacro del 7 ottobre Hamas ha diffuso un breve audio di 35 secondi nel quale Mohammed Deif, il comandante del braccio armato dell’organizzazione, le Brigate Ezzedin al-Qassam, esorta i musulmani a “unirsi alla lotta per liberare Al-Aqsa”.  Il video è inizialmente comparso su Telegram ad inizio settimana per poi venire diffuso su tutta la rete.

L’attentato con molotov al consolato USA di Firenze e “The whole world is Hamas” – by Giovanni Giacalone

Nella giornata di sabato 3 febbraio, è stato fermato l’autore del lancio di bottiglie molotov contro il consolato statunitense di Firenze, verificatosi nella notte del 1° febbraio. Si tratta di Dani Hakam Taleb Moh’d, 22 anni, cittadino italiano di padre giordano di origini palestinesi e madre palestinese della Cisgiordania. L’arrestato risulta residente a Dicomano, comune del Mugello, assieme ai genitori. Due profili Facebook con un paio di foto ma privi di contenuto e un’azienda di consulenza informatica a suo nome in via di Novoli a Firenze, la Orient Service.

L’eccidio di civili perpetrato da Hamas lo scorso 7 ottobre ha sconvolto l’opinione pubblica e la comunità internazionale, infiammando nuovamente l’eterna questione israelo-palestinese e riportando al centro dell’attenzione mediatica e politica il problema del terrorismo di matrice islamista, messo nel dimenticatoio dall’emergenza Covid e dalla guerra in Ucraina. In molti hanno commesso l’errore di credere che il problema del jihad globale fosse sparito dopo la disfatta territoriale dell’ISIS nel Siraq (che non implica però una sua sconfitta), ma la realtà è ben diversa.
