On 18 May, at the Islamic Centre of San Diego (ICSD), California, Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez, aged 17 and 18 respectively, carried out a shooting that left three people dead. The two teenagers subsequently took their own lives. Both the attack and their suicides were livestreamed. The attackers’ modus operandi, their clothing, the customisation of their weapons, and the existence of a manifesto clearly highlight the presence of influences from the extreme-right accelerationist ecosystem. However, reducing the case exclusively to the extreme-right milieu would risk offering a partial interpretation of the phenomenon.

“Violence matters”: il caso di 764, Maniacs Murder Cult, No Lives Matter e della True Crime Community (Italian and English version) – by A. Pugnana
Nel corso dell’ultimo anno, il Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE) si sta affermando come uno dei principali fenomeni di estremismo violento, tanto online quanto offline, articolandosi come una delle principali minacce alla sicurezza della società. Come evidenziato dall’Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), tra il 2020 e il 2025, più di 200 individui associati a gruppi violenti di matrice misantropica e nichilista sono stati arrestati in 28 Paesi. Tali dati riflettono una minaccia che si sta espandendo sempre più nella dimensione online, attirando soprattutto giovani e giovanissimi, che non seguono una specifica ideologia e sempre più spesso sono attirati dalla violenza.

On 16 December 2025, at a Russian school in the town of Odintsovo, near Moscow, Timofey Vladimirovich Kulyamov, a 15-year-old student, carried out a knife attack, killing a 10-year-old Tajik student. After some resistance, during which the attacker held another student hostage, Timofey was arrested by the authorities. The attack was livestreamed.
